What is WildBlue?
WildBlue is the nation’s first true satellite-delivered broadband Internet service. It uses next-generation Ka-band satellite technology to provide affordable broadband Internet access to virtually everyone in the continental United States.
What are the main features of WildBlue service?
WildBlue offers an always-on broadband Internet connection to virtually every home in the continental United States, including those currently beyond the reach of DSL and cable modems. A phone line connection is not required to access the Internet through WildBlue. The monthly price and connection speeds compare favorably to other Internet-delivery options. WildBlue offers download speeds of up to 1.5 Mbps 25 times faster than today’s 56k dial-up speeds and up to 0.5 Mbps upstream. WildBlue’s increased bandwidth makes it possible to access rich content that is otherwise unavailable through dial-up modems.
What does WildBlue equipment look like?
The satellite mini-dish is about 26 inches in diameter and can be mounted easily on a roof or outside wall. A cable from the dish connects to a satellite modem, a small box placed next to the personal computer, which will connect to your PC via Ethernet. The cost of the equipment and installation is less expensive than current satellite-delivered Internet options.
What is the monthly WildBlue service cost?
Depending on download speed, WildBlue offers several packages to accommodate various user needs, including a residential service that has a retail price of $49.95 per month and a small office/home office package that is $79.95.
When will WildBlue service be available?
WildBlue launched service in June of 2005.
